Election tribunal: Wike mocks ADP candidate after huge defeat

- Wike says his victory at the governorship petition tribunal proves that he won the election without difficulties

- The governor, who thanks residents of the state, promises not to be dissuaded by the opposition

Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike of Rivers state has reacted to his victory at the election petition tribunal just as he made jest of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) and its candidate in the election, Victor Fingesi.

Fingesi had lost at the governorship election petition tribunal where he had filed a case against Wike.

In his reaction, after the tribunal dclared Wike the winner of the election, the governor said he was sure that nobody ran election against him during the March 9, 2019, election.

The governor, who, with other Rivers leaders, proceeded to the Government House Chapel of Everlasting Grace for thanksgiving, said the tribunal judgement confirmed that he actually won the election.

He also argued that if not for the reliance on connection as witnessed by some parties, all the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had no opponents during the election.

"It is so painful that someone could say that no election held in Rivers state. There was nobody who ran the election against us.

"But for connection, how can anyone say he ran election against us in Rivers state," Wike said while promising never to be distracted by the antics of the opposition.

"I will never be distracted. I will do everything in the interest of Rivers State. I will continue to work. Nothing will distract me," he added.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Wike recently said the faulty electoral system in Nigeria resulted in poor political leadership in the country.
