21 Boko Haram drug suppliers arrested Jalingo - NDLEA

- NDLEA said it has arrested 21 suspected Boko Haram drug suppliers in Jalingo

- The agency also recovered hard drugs such as 239.9kg of cannabis sativa, 59.7kg psychotropic substances and 274 bottles of codeine syrup from the suspects

- Nine of the suspects have been arraigned while the rest are still under investigations

Not fewer than 21 suspects who reportedly supply drugs to Boko Haram terrorists have been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that NDLEA operatives arrested the suspects after busting the channel they used in the supply of their drugs.

Legit.ng gathers that the agency's spokesman, John Achema, disclosed this on Thursday, October 3, in Abuja.

According to Achema, 229.6 kilogrammes of hard drug and other banned substances were recovered from the suspects.

The recovered hard drugs are 239.9kg of cannabis sativa, 59.7kg psychotropic substances and 274 bottles of codeine syrup. The suspects reportedly confessed to the crime.

Achema added that the leader of the group said he engaged in the illegal business due to his inability to get unemployment.

About 153 compressed blocks of cannabis sativa were also reportedly recovered from the unnamed leader.

The NDLEA spokesman added that nine of the 21 suspects have been arraigned just as the agency continues investigations on the others.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Lt General Tukur Buratai, Nigeria's army chief, said on Monday, September 30, that Boko Haram insurgency could not be completely conquered through warfare alone.

Buratai identified finding appropriate narratives that would counter the ideologies of the insurgents as a method that would greatly assist the Nigerian Army in finally defeating the terrorist groups.
