A Nigerian lawyer identified as Awele Ideal has shared her childhood story to dismiss the claim that Big Brother Naija contestant, Tacha, was not well-behaved in the house because she does not have a mother.

Legit.ng earlier reported that the former reality TV show was disqualified after her fight with another housemate, Mercy. Before her disqualification, Tacha had fought with almost all the housemates and called them names, to the dislike of many Nigerians.

But she was often defended by her fans who always noted that she was behaving that way because she lost her mother when she was young.

To counter that claim, Ideal said a person’s life is what they make of it. She shared her childhood story to let people know that not having a mother is not enough excuse to be mannerless.

She said: “Anytime I hear them say Tacha has no mother, I ask myself if that's enough excuse to become unruly and mannerless. Don't get it twisted, I'm not being judgmental, I just want to share a bit of my childhood story with you.”

The lawyer said that she was abandoned by her mother and left for her father and step-mother at seven months old. Ideal explained that her stepmother maltreated her so much that one day, she was left with no option than to eat a dog’s food.

According to her, her stepmother would beat her for no reason until she fainted.

She said: "As if starving me was not enough punishment, my stepmother flogged me mercilessly until I would faint at times. She would also apply pepper in my private part, eyes, armpit, and neck, tie me up and abandon me in one of the toilets for days without food."

As young as she was at that time, Ideal said she begged for death to come because the ill-treatment was too much. But despite the bad experiences, Ideal said she did not joke with her academics because she knew that was the only way to success.
