This was revealed by Honourable Chukwuma Umeoji, representing Aguata federal constituency in Anambra state on Thursday, September 26, Channels TV reports.
Moreover, Umeoji said that about 22 million barrels of crude oil, totaling N1.3 trillion, were stolen only in the Niger Delta in 2019.
The lawmaker said: “Oil theft is not only an economic loss but also causes environmental damage due to breaches on oil pipelines and the incidents are on the upsurge.”

In response to this revelation, the House of Representatives has set up an ad hoc to investigate the quantity of oil stolen daily and track those behind the crime.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that following the threat of Femi Gbajabiamila, the speaker of the House of Representatives, the service chiefs met with the leadership of the green chamber, after ignoring a previous invitation last week.
Security chiefs except for Tukur Buratai, chief of army staff, are present at the meeting taking place at the National Assembly Complex. Present at the meeting includes Sadique Abubakar, chief of air staff; Ibok-Ete Ibas, chief of naval staff, among other security chiefs.
