- Human rights activist Femi Falana has vowed to remain at the facility of the Department of State Services till his client, Omoyele Sowore, is released
- Sowore was on Tuesday, September 24, granted bail by Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja
- The former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress is yet to be released despite meeting his bail conditions
Femi Falana (SAN), counsel to the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2019 general elections, Omoyele Sowore, has vowed to remain at the facility of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja, till his client is released
Sowore on Wednesday, September 25, fulfilled the bail conditions given by the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday, September 24, for his release.
According to Sahara Reporters, Falana said he and his team will remain at the DSS facility until the former presidential candidate is released.
Recall that on Tuesday, September 24, Justice Taiwo Taiwo ordered the DSS to release Sowore on bail.
Legit.ng previously reported that the convener of #RevolutionNow protest and publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, challenged the Department of State Services (DSS) over its plan to prosecute him on terrorism charges.
He said the secret service was not empowered by law to prosecute him on terrorism charges.
The DSS had asked the court to determine if it was right to file terrorism charge against the activist and whether it was right for it to seek an ex parte motion for the detention of Sowore.
Sowore has been in detention since August 3 after being arrested on the eve of a nationwide protest.
The former presidential candidate said although the agency was mentioned in the terrorism act, it was not created by an act of the National Assembly.

Sowore said: “The fact the SSS and DSS are used interchangeably in Nigeria has not conferred a legal status on the DSS. In any case, the motion ex parte herein was filed by the SSS and not DSS. As far as the law is concerned the applicant/respondent (DSS) have no power to substitute for the DSS."
