Election tribunal: Court decides Ihedioha’s fate

The governorship election tribunal for Imo state will on Friday, September 20, deliver judgement on the petition filed against the victory of the state governor, Emeka Ihedioha.
The tribunal will be sitting at a Federal High Court in Jabi district, Abuja by 9 am, the secretary of the tribunal, Balarabe Garba said.
Daily Trust reports that a petition was filed against Ihedioha's emergence as governor of Imo state by three political parties - Action Alliance (AA), All Progressives Congress (APC) and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
The parties alongside their governorship candidates, Uche Nwosu, Hope Uzodinma and Ifeanyi Ararume had asked the tribunal to the nullify the declaration of Ihedioha as governor of Imo state.

According to the trio, the PDP governorship candidate for the state was unlawfully declared as the governor by officials of INEC.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the National Assembly elections petitions tribunal in Owerri nullified the election of a member of the House of Representatives, Obinna Onwubuariri.

The tribunal also ordered a rerun election which will be conducted in the constituency by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
