Bayelsa governorship election: Governor Dickson sacks special adviser
Helen Bob, a special adviser to Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa state, was on Wednesday, September 18, sacked by her principal.
According to Fidelis Soriwei, the chief press secretary to Governor Seriake, who revealed the development, Bob was dismissed following alleged misconduct and lack of discipline, The Nation reports.
Even more, Bob's sack has been linked to her rejection of the governor’s choice of candidate and running mate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Senator Douye Diri had emerged the candidate of the PDP for the Bayelsa governorship election fixed for November 16.
Diri pulled 561 votes to beat his rival Timi Alaibe who got 365 votes in primary held on Tuesday, September 3, at Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre, Yenagoa.

Declaring the result, Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba, chairman, party’s electoral committee for the state, said Keniebi Okoko came third with 142 votes.
Diri was a member of the House of Representatives from 2015 to 2019, where he represented the people of Yenagoa/Kolokuma/Opokuma federal constituency of the state.
