Qur’anic recitation relieves stress and anxiety, cures hypertension, mental illnesses - Cleric

- Reading Qur'an regularly is a means of protecting oneself from evils, Ustaz Idris Ibrahim, a Jigawa-based cleric said

- Ibrahim added that Qur’an trains the mind, sharpens the intellect and cures psychological and physiological problems

An Islamic cleric based in Jigawa state, Ustaz Idris Ibrahim, has enjoined Muslims to always read Qur'an to protect themselves against evils.

Ibrahim who is based in Kirikasamma local government area of the northern state said this on Saturday, September 14, during the closing of the 34th edition of Qur’anic recitation competition in the area.

The Islamic cleric, who served as the chief judge of the competition, said Qur’an trains the mind, sharpens the intellect and cures psychological and physiological problems.

His words: “The Glorious Qur’an is the solution to the problems of mankind.

“It does not only relieves stress and anxiety, but it also cures hypertension, mental illnesses, among others".

Ibrahim also urged Muslims to strive to memorise the content of the Qur'an and always study its commentary.

Similarly, Alhaji Bulama Kaku-Marma, the education secretary in the area, urged parents to closely monitor their wards and ensure they were morally upright.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Umar Abubakar came first in memorizing 60 chapters of the Qur’an.

Other winners included Idris Ali who took the first position in the 40 chapters memorisation category, while Rumasa’u Abubakar came first in the female category.

The winners were presented with cash and other prizes.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Hafiz Idris from Borno had joined the special league of Nigerians who went on the international stage and emerged winners.

The Borno state indigene won the 2019 King Malik Durban Quran contest of the world, that was held in Saudi Arabia.
