FCTA commences removal of speed bumps on Abuja highways

- The bumps are presently being removed to curb the activities of the criminals and ease movement for motorists
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has commenced the removal of speed bumps on the popular Jabi road leading to the Nnamdi Azikiwe expressway.
The move by the FCTA is a result of several reports of criminal activities at the speed bump spots along the road,.
Many motorists have been robbed by criminals who take advantage of the bumps to rob road users, especially at night.
The bumps are presently being removed to curb the activities of the criminals and ease movement for motorists.
Prior to this development, criminal activities were also reported around the National Mosque from Central Park and Central Bank of Nigeria headquarters.

The speed bumps around those areas have also been removed to ease drivers’ movement.
Some residents of the Nigerian capital are happy over the development, but also called for the installation of flood-lights along the route.
The road has been notorious for many criminal activities, robbery, and kidnappings.
Last year, seven policemen were killed and many civilians injured when unknown gunmen opened fire on them on the road on Monday night, July 2.
The policemen were on a stop-and-search duty operation at Galadimawa roundabout, when the gunmen were stopped for search and opened fire on the unsuspecting policemen which led to the death of seven while one was seriously injured.
The gun battle led to many pedestrians and traders around the roundabout running for safety while many sustained various degrees of injuries.
