Ebonyi international airport: FG gives approval for construction

The federal government has given approval to the Ebonyi state government to construct an international airport in Abakaliki, the state capital.
The approval followed a request by the Ebonyi state government and subsequent visit to the proposed site by the technical team from the federal ministry of transportation and its agencies, The Sun reports.
Legit.ng gathers that the state government was sent an approval letter by the safety and technical policy department of the federal ministry of transportation.
The letter dated September 5, 2019, and signed by the director of safety and technical policy, Captain T Alkali, was addressed to Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state.
According to the letter, the federal ministry of transportation and its agencies must be carried along at every stage of developing the airport to ensure compliance with the stipulated standards.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the federal government commended the Delta state government for the quality of facilities at the Asaba International Airport, saying the facilities were of international standards.
Minister of aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, stated this in Asaba on Sunday, September 1, shortly after he inspected facilities at the airport.
He noted that the state government had done well in developing the airport to meet international standards especially in the area of upgrade of the runway and other ancillary works.
The minister particularly commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for sticking to standards and for ensuring transparency in the concessoning process of the Asaba airport.
