John Obi Mikel has been a role model to upcoming players around the world and one of the stars who seemed to have benefited from under-studying him recently spoke out.
In a post Mikel shared on his Instagram, Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves who is one of the hottest properties in the Premier League, reportedly claimed the former Super Eagles captain was one of the players he understudied during his younger days.
Mikel shared quotes from the midfielder who revealed that they were usually given video tapes of the former Chelsea star to study and they called him the professor.

"Back in Porto, we were given DVD's of John Mikel Obi to take home and study everyday. We used to call him professor of football," the quote read.
And Mikel felt honoured for a player of Neves' quality to pay tribute to him as he responded on his Instagram handle and said "I am honoured" with a football emoji.

Neves has already shown some flashes of brilliance in the Premier League this season after scoring a breath-taking goal against Manchester United in their 1-1 draw at the Molineux and the goal was nominated for Goal of the Month of August.
The 22-year-old was also an important member of Wolves' side that qualified into the group phase of the Europa League.
The Porto academy graduate also won the Nations League with Portugal in 2019 including the Premier League Asia tour trophy in 2019.
