Ayoola Adeola emerges best African female postgraduate student in China

- Ayoola Adeola, an alumna of Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has emerged winner of 2019 China Excellent International Students award

- Adeola was picked from a pool of other international students who were nominated for the award by the China Academy of Science

- According to the academy, a student must demonstrate consistent academic performance, obedience to Chinese rules and regulations, care for public properties, among other things, to be considered

Ayoola Adeola has joined the league of Nigerians making the nation proud on the international scene as she won the award for best African female postgraduate student in China.

Adeola is also an alumna of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) and currently a PhD student of Primate Genomic Conversation and Evolution in Kunming Institute of Zoology at Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

She won the 2019 China Excellent International Students award, becoming the only African female with a special distinction out of 40 international students who also won the same award.

It should be noted that every year CAS nominates international science students who have exemplary character and who also have great academic achievements.

From the pool of the nominations, the best people are selected as winners of the Excellent International Students Award.

The organisers of the award said the capacity of the recipient for consistent excellent academic performance, diligence, and strict purpose for continuous learning is tested before giving the award.

Other conditions a person must have fulfilled before getting the prize include the care for public, obeying Chinese laws and regulations, attention to public hygiene and good participation in extracurricular school activities.

According to the information available on FUTA facebook page, Adeola graduated with a degree in ecotourism and wildlife management with second class upper in 2014 before getting a distinction in her masters in 2017 when she studied agricultural technology.

Professor Fuwape, the VC of FUTA, has congratulated her, saying she has joined the booming list of good representations of the university and the country at large.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Ajibola Olubando, a graduate of petroleum and gas engineering from University of Lagos, was the winner of the Lebanese Nigeria Initiate scholarship for his academic prowess.

Olubando defeated 15 other competitors for the prize to become the top man of the contest.

With the winning, the graduate is the first Nigerian petroleum and gas student to ever win the scholarship.
