Josh Maja, Bordeaux striker, gets call-up to play for Nigeria against Ukraine

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has invited Bordeaux striker Josh Maja to be part of his team that will face Ukraine in an international friendly match on September 10.
Although Josh Maja was born in England, his parents are Nigerians which gives him the chance to play for the Super Eagles, since he has not played for England's Three Lions.
Two years ago, the 20-year-old forward was invited to train with the Super Eagles for a proposed friendly tie against Burkina Faso, which was later cancelled.
His French club have confirmed on their website that their player Josh Maja has been invited to play for the country of his parents.

“The young striker (20) will join his team-mate in attack in Bordeaux, Samuel Kalu. This is his first call in the national team,'' Bordeaux said in a statement on their website.
Before Josh Maja's move to Bordeaux in 2019 January transfer window, he played in the youth teams of Crystal Palace and Fulham.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Gernot Rohr who is the head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria rubbished the reports linking him from his present position with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
After steering the Super Eagles to win bronze medal at the AFCON 2019, there have been speculation that Gernot Rohr could be on his way out of the Super Eagles.
