Alleged Mosque demolition: Rebuild property, compensate Muslims - Shariah Council tells Wike

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers has been asked by the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria (SCSN), to make necessary compensation as well as rebuild the alleged demolished Mosque in Trans-Amadi area of Port Harcourt, the state capital, for peace to reign.
The secretary-general of the council, Nafiu Baba-Ahmad, stated this at a press conference on Monday, September 2, The Nation reports.
Legit.ng gathers that Baba-Ahmad said such compensation would go a long way in dousing likely political and religious tension across the nation, over the alleged demolition.
The secretary-general, however, said he was disappointed with what he referred to as “the complicit silence of Muslim leaders, Muslim representatives in the Senate and House of Representatives, Muslim governors with the exception of Kano state governor and the federal government over the issue”.
To avoid any act of reciprocation from irresponsible quarters, the council also urged that Governor Wike be called to order by the executive and legislative arms of government.
Baba-Ahmad also pointed out that “Islam is a religion of peace, it does not promote violence nor disunity among the people,” and appealed to all Muslim faithful not to take matters into their hands over the issue.
He said: “While we condemn Governor Wike’s desperate wickedness, we also call on all relevant executive and legislative organs of the federal government, to wake up to their responsibilities and nip this unnecessary and unwholesome development, before it escalates into an avoidable reciprocation, with obvious unpredictable negative consequences.
“All that needs to be said on the issue relating to the purchase price, title to the land, building/planning approvals and court actions have been explained earlier in press statements and conferences by other responsible Muslims and Islamic organisations.”

Recall that Legit.ng previously reported that following the alleged demolition of the Mosque located at the Trans-Amadi Area of Port Harcourt, Rivers state, the Kano state government vowed to institute legal action against Governor Nyesom Wike.
The development was made public in a press statement released by Abba Anwar, the chief press secretary to the Kano state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The Kano government described the alleged demolition as shocking, and promised that “necessary lawful action must be taken over the happening.”
