The ultimate baking battle returns on the screens as contestants prepare to showcase their skills in the Great British Bake Off 2019 competition. The Great British Bake Off contest is one of the popular shows of Love Productions and has aired a total of nine series since its release back in August 2010. The series has aired on three different channels, namely, the BBC One, BBC Two and currently on Channel 4. The 2019 edition will be the 10th series, and most fans will probably be looking forward to its episodes.
Bake Off 2019
You need a lot of practice to become a good baker, but to win the Great British Bake Off 2019 contest, you must impress the judges. Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith return as judges to assess the participants and crown the top baker in the UK. Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding will be the presenters as the series kicks off on August 27, 2019.
Contestants will tackle different baking challenges each week, which will require individual creativity and skills to win the top prize. The 2019 edition of the contest is also the youngest in the show’s history, with the current participants averaging 31 years old.
The contestants
Unlike the past series, the 2019 edition of the show will feature 13 contestants donning aprons for the big occasion. The show opens the door for young people with more than half of the participants being in their 20s.
Alice (28 years)
One of the contestants in the 2019 series is Alice, a London-based Geography teacher. She is one of the new faces in the competition. Amelia (24 years)
The fashion designer grew up in Halifax but currently staying in London. Baking is her passion, and she will be hoping to impress the judges with her skills and win the coveted award.
Dan (32 years)
After making his wedding cake, the Rotherham-based support worker perhaps has what it takes to win the contest.

David (36 years)
For David, the flavour comes before a presentation, but will his convictions guide him to glory in the contest? The international health advisor from Yorkshire will heavily rely on his skills in baking bread to beat her competitors.
Helena (40 years)
The project manager is one of the eldest participants in the contest. She was raised in Lanzarote, Spain and currently living in Leeds. Helena has an attachment to Spanish flavours and will be using it to impress the two judges.
Henry (20 years)
Henry is one of the youngest contestants in this year’s competition. The English literature student at Durham University loves baking. He has always served his housemates in university with some of his best bakes. Henry now earns an opportunity to reach out to more people and showcase his baking skills to a broader audience.
Jamie (20 years)
The waiter and sports science student in Surrey also joins the contest as one of the young bakers to battle for the crown. He will be keen to apply some of the baking tips he learnt from his grandmother to excel his rivals.
Michael (26 years)
If you probably thought a theatre manager could not bake, then you need to have a taste of Michael’s favourite dishes. The 26-years-old works in Stratford-Upon-Avon and his strength lies in cakes and pastry. He also uses Indian flavours to make his sweet bakes.
Michelle (35 years)
From a print shop administrator to the Great British Bake Off 2019 contest, Michelle has her tools ready to prove why she is one of the best in the kitchen.
Phil (56 years)
The eldest contestant in this year’s competition comes with a six-year experience in baking. His passion for cooking has benefited his wife and two daughters, who often enjoy his baked pieces of bread. Phil’s next assignment is getting the nod of the judges.
Priya (34 years)
Meet the marketing consultant from Leicester with a passion for baking and cooking even at odd hours. Priya’s hard work and dedication could be what she needs to edge out other contestants and win the ultimate prize.
Rosie (28 years)
Inspired by her rural life, the veterinary surgeon from Somerset is among the participants to watch this year. Having treated her friends with some of her best dishes, Rosie will now face the judges to analyze and rate her work.
Steph (28 years)
A famous shop assistant from Chester, Steph is a big fan of healthy greens. The Great British Bake Off contest will provide her with a great opportunity and platform to showcase her baking prowess.
Who won the Great British Bake Off 2018 contest?
Last year’s competition attracted millions of viewers with an average live audience of 7.5 million people tuning in to watch the final. India-born Rahul Mandal, who moved to the UK after securing a university scholarship when he was 23, was crowned the winner in the final. The then 30-years-old research scientist beat fellow finalists Kim-Joy Hewlett and Ruby Bhogal.
