Miyetti Allah says most killings, kidnappings in southeast not by Fulani bandits

- Contrary to widespread views, the Miyetti Allah says the many killings and kidnappings in the southeast region are not done by Fulani herdsmen

- According to the association, other tribes are responsible for the crimes

- Specifically, the group mentioned Igbo, Tiv, Jukun, Kanuri, Shua Arabs, Kanuri cattle rearers as being responsible for the killings

The southeast zone of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders’ Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has named some tribes as being responsible for the many killings and kidnappings in the region.

This was disclosed by Alhaji Siddiki Gidado, the southeast chairman of the group, The Guardian reports.

He agreed that there might be a few bad eggs among the Fulani group, but insisted that the most killings and kidnappings are not perpetrated by them.

Going further, he said most of the killings and kidnappings were done by Igbo, Tiv, Jukun, Kanuri , Shua Arabs, Kanuri cattle rearers.

“In every tribe, you have bad eggs and when some evil acts are carried out, the entire tribe is made to take the blame," he said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the democracy vanguard of Nigerians in the diaspora petitioned the International Criminal Court (ICC) over incessant attacks by suspected herdsmen in the country.

The group in a petition dated July 17, and addressed to ICC’s special prosecutor in the Hague by its president, Timothy Sule, accused the presidency of not doing enough to end herdsmen attacks across the country.

Legit.ng had also reported that Allen Onyema, the chairman of Air Peace airlines said some armed robbers in the country are perpetuating crimes by disguising themselves as herdsmen.
