RCCG pastors' abduction: Police release names of victims

- The names of the five people abducted by unknown gunmen on Benin-Ijebu Sagamu have been released

- The five victims of abduction were on their way to the RCCG's ministers' conference at the Redemption camp when they were kidnapped

- Efforts are underway to rescue the victims from their abductors

The identities of five people suspected to be pastors of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) who were kidnapped by unknown gunmen at Ogere, Benin-Ijebu-ode-Sagamu have been released.

The spokesperson of the ogun state police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who spoke to the press confirmed the abduction.

The Cable reported that Oyeyemi listed the names of the five people abducted as: Chidioze Eluwa, Chiemela Iroha, Okoro Ohowukwe, Ndubuizi Owuabueze, and Ibeleji Chidinma.

Recall that Legit.ng earlier reported that the Ogun police command on Friday, August 2 confirmed the kidnapping of five persons by gunmen at J3/J4 Area, Ogbere, on the Benin-Ijebu-Ode-Sagamu expressway.

The general overseer of the RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, had on Friday morning disclosed that five ministers of the church on their way to the Ministers’ Conference were kidnapped on Thursday night.

Adeboye, who said this while speaking at the church Ministers’ Conference holding at the Redemption Camp in Ogun, appealed to the congregation to pray for the release of the captives.

Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, deployed detectives from the Force Headquarters to hunt for the killers of Rev. Fr. Paul Offu, a Catholic priest in Enugu state.

The Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), DCP Frank Mba in a statement on Friday, August 2, in Abuja said the IGP had ordered massive manhunt for the killers of the priest.

The priest, who was shot dead on Aug. 1 by unknown gunmen, was in charge of St. James the Greater Parish Catholic Church, Ugbawka, Enugu state.
