Breaking: Omoyele Sowore reportedly arrested by DSS

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have reportedly arrested Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2019 elections.
According to Sahara Reporters, Sowore was picked up at his apartment in the early hours of Saturday, August 3.

The activist and convener of #RevolutionNow Protests posted a distress tweet at exactly 1:25am, after which someone claiming to be an eyewitness confirmed that his phone was forcefully taken from him.
“He also tweeted “Ja p”, confirming his phone must have been seized while trying to raise the alarm about his arrest,” according to Sahara Reporters report.
Sowore had launched a #RevolutionNow campaign on Twitter with series of tweets mobilising Nigerian for a protest march against bad governance in Nigeria, scheduled for August 5, 2019.
Legit.ng previously reported that Sowore was suspended by the National Executive Committee of the AAC on Monday, May 13.

Sowore, who is also the national chairman of the party was accused of anti-party activities and alleged financial misappropriation.
Reacting to the action of the NEC, the AAC presidential candidate said those that sacked him were “misguided individuals” on suspension.
Meanwhile, the party has reaffirmed Sowore as its national chairman, while expelling Leonard Ezenwa, former treasurer and secretary of the party.
