WAEC result 2019: Release date and how to check for the results
Candidates who sat for the May/June West African Senior School Certificate Examination 2019 can now check what they scored. The WAEC result 2019 was released on Friday, 26th July 2019, meaning that those who sat the examination and were not involved in malpractices could check their results.
On Friday, 26th July 2019, the West African Examination Council head of Nigeria National Office Mr Olu Adenipekun officially announced the release of the May/June WAEC result 2019. He made this announcement at WAEC'S national office in Yaba, Lagos. Those not indebted to the council can now check their results online using the results checker pin on their smart identity cards used during the examination. One can also access their results through SMS.
How to check for the WAEC result 2019
If you have not yet accessed your results for the May/June West African Senior School Certificate Examination 2019, then these guidelines will be helpful to you. Note that you can check your results online or through SMS(Short Message Service)
How to check WAEC result 2019 online
- Visit the WAEC result checking portal.
- Enter your 10-digit WAEC Examination Number, which is your 7-digit centre number followed by your 3-digit candidate number.
- Enter the four digits of your Examination Year.
- Select the Type of Examination.
- Enter the e-PIN Voucher Number.
- Enter the Personal Identification Number (PIN) on your e-PIN.
- Click Submit and wait for the results window to come up.
How to check WAEC result 2019 through SMS
To check your WAEC 2019 result through SMS, you will need to buy the WAEC Direct Scratch card and do the following: send an SMS in this format: WAEC*Exam Number*PIN*Exam Year to short-code 32327 (MTN, Celtel & Glo subscribers).
Please note that there should be no space in the message and ensure that you strictly use the format above.
Wait for your result to be delivered to your phone via SMS.

Breakdown of the WAEC result 2019
Here are some essential details regarding the May/June West African Senior School Certificate Examination 2019:
- 1,596,161 candidates registered for the May/June West African Senior School Certificate Examination 2019 but only 1,590,173 sat the examination.
- Out of the 1,590,173 who sat the examination, 1,468,071(92.32%) had their results fully processed while 122,102(7.68%) had a few of their subjects still being processed. This was at the time Mr Olu Adenipekun was making the announcement on Friday; things might have changed.
- Still out of this 1,590,173 that sat the exam, 82,098 were males while 798,075 were females.
- Out of those who sat the examination, 64.18% obtained five credits including Mathematics and English Language. In 2018, the percentage was 50%, meaning that there has been a 14.18% increase.
- Among those who got five credits, 507,862 were males while 512,657 were females.
- 1,020,519 candidates obtained credits and above in a minimum of five subjects.
- The results were for candidates who sat their examination in 18,639 secondary schools in Nigeria.
- The May/June West African Senior School Certificate Examination 2019 was also administered to some schools in the Benin Republic, Cote d'Ivoire and Equatorial Guinea in schools where the Nigerian curriculum for senior secondary schools is used.
- Results of 180,205 candidates have been withheld due to examination malpractices.
- The council registered 1,918 candidates with varying degrees of special needs.
