Ruga settlements: MACBAN boss asks governors to approve land, avoid crises
- A chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Mahammad Huseni, wants governors to reverse their stand on Ruga settlements
- Huseni, who heads MACBAN in Nasarawa, says governors must make land available for the project to end the crises between farmers and herdsmen
- The MACBAN leader wants the federal government to penalise any governor that refuses to approve land for the project
Governors refusing to approve land for the establishment of Ruga settlements proposed by the federal government are only encouraging crises, the chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Nasarawa state chapter, Alhaji Mahammad Huseni, has said.
The Nigerian Tribune reports that Huseni made this position during an interview with journalists in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa state.
The MACBAN leader argued that having Ruga project across the 36 states of the federation would be a major way to end the incessant farmers/herders crises.

Huseni urged governors who earlier rejected the move to join their colleagues by keying into the programme since it provides a lasting solution to the lingering crises in their states.
“Any governor that does not want Ruga settlement in his state is a lover of crises and doesn’t want farmers/herders clashes to end in Nigeria, instead he likes it to continue in order to be collecting security votes from the federal government.
“We are suggesting for federal government to penalise any governor who is not ready for the Ruga project in his state,” he said.
He said the Fulani in Nasarawa state are fully prepared and in support of government’s plan to implement the programme.
