Captain Solomon who flew world's biggest plane named Aviation Man of Africa
- Captain Solomon Quainoo has been awarded as the Aviation Man of the Year in West Africa
- Captain Quainoo received the honour at the 2019 edition of the Balafon Awards held at the La Palm Beach Resort in Accra, Ghana
- The award was organised by Akwaaba Travel Market in collaboration with Ghana Tourism Authority
Ghanaian pilot Captain Solomon Quainoo has been named as the 2019 Aviation Man of the Year in West Africa.
Captain Quainoo was given the honour at the 2019 Balofon Aviation Awards which was held at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel on June 29, 2019.
Dubbed the Accra Weizo, the awards organised by Akwaaba Travel Market in collaboration with Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) recognises companies and individuals who have excelled and contributed immensely to the growth of aviation, travel, tourism and hotel business in the sub-region.

Captain Quainoo, a pilot with Emirates Airlines, made news headlines whenhe flew the world's biggest plane at the time, the Airbus A380, to the Kotoka International Airport in Accra in October 2018.
The flight was in commemoration of the opening of the newly built state-of-the-art Terminal 3 at the airport.
The Airbus A380, the biggest ever passenger airliner which can carry between 525 and 853 people depending on class configuration, was used to test facilities and infrastructure at the new terminal.
After his landing in Accra, Captain Quainoo became a national hero and had rounds of interviews and visits to motivate other young people.
It was gathered that Captain Quainoo is an airline pilot and captain with over 10,000 flying hours and has worked for respected international airlines including British Airways.
