Lionel Messi recently made a stunning statement that will shock the footballing world and his fans at large.

The Argentina captain is currently representing his country at the Copa America 2019 competition as they face Brazil in the semi finals.

But according to a Facebook post by Sportskeeda Foootball, the 32-year-old made a disturbing confession about his career.

Messi to his doctor Joseph Garcia during his latest checkup: "I feel it ... I'm not what I was. I feel more and more tired match after match, every time a great performance comes out, it expends energy. Maybe the end is near. Days and events have passed."

Barcelona were miraculously knocked out of last season's Champions League semi finals by Liverpool.

The La Liga club led 3-0 in the first leg at Nou Camp but were beaten 4-0 in the reverse fixture at Anfield.

And what looks like a saving grace for the petite attacker at Copa America 2019 tournament in Brazil, Messi has not hit top form and his team's chances in defeating the hosts is under threat.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Lionel Messi celebrated his 32nd birthday and statistics haven proven that as the time his rival Cristiano Ronaldo clocked the same age, the Barcelona star has better stats.
