Governor Inuwa, Fayemi, others engage World Bank on states' development
- Governors across the country have called to stronger partnership with World Bank and other international agencies
- The governors said strengthening cooperation and mutual partnerships for sustainable development results in their respective states
- According to the governor of Gombe state, matters relating to health, education, agriculture and governance are of great importance to states' development
The governor of Gombe state, Inuwa Yahaya, and his colleagues from various states across Nigeria have engaged the World Bank, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and other development partners in areas and ways of strengthening cooperation and mutual partnerships for sustainable development results in their respective states.
The governors made the plea for their states during an interactive session with the development partners in Abuja on Wednesday, June 26.
The meeting which was organised by the Nigerian Governor's Forum and chaired by Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti state, centred around new development challenges, human capital development agenda, financial inclusion, revenue prioritisation among others.
A statement signed by the senior special assistant to Governor Yahaya on media and publicity, Ismaila Misilli, said the governor also discussed matters relating to health, education, agriculture and governance, with country directors of various agencies.

Misilli said the international agencies took turns to brief the states chief executives and answered questions on the partnerships and rules of engagement.
Also, a special briefing session was held for Gombe state and seven others by the GAVI Vaccine Alliance in collaboration with the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency.
At the briefing, the global body reassured the governors of its commitment to providing increased access to immunization in Gombe, Kebbi, Zamfara, Katsina, Bayelsa, Jigawa, Niger and Taraba states.

"In his quest to take maximum advantage of the forum, Governor Inuwa Yahaya personally engaged some agencies on the sidelines of the meeting, where he expressed his administration's readiness and commitment to partner with them in areas of mutual interests," the statement said.
Also, the governor had fortnight ago met with state coordinators of donor agencies and development partners operating in Gombe state, where he vowed to explore and exploit more areas of partnerships with them as well as ensure timely counterpart funding of projects that have direct bearing on the people.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the Gombe state government had dismissed reports making the round that the state government is witch-hunting the immediate past administration over sale of properties worth millions of naira belonging to state.

Missili said it has become pertinent to put the records straight that Governor Inuwa Yahaya was massively voted for across the 11 local government councils of the state.
He also said that state government is yet to understand why the fact-finding effort by the recovery committee would be perceived as witch-hunting.
