The former national chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), John Oyegun, has accused Adams Oshiomhole of distracting the governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki.
Oyegun also alleged that the present chairman of the party is instigating violence among members of the Edo state House of Assembly.
In a statement signed by his media aide, Oyegun said Oshiomhole was stoking the fire with the ultimate agenda of making Edo state ungovernable for the governor.
The statement said: “We need to get our acts together. Oyegun has no personal grievances with Oshiomhole but Nigerians must know that he cannot go to equity with unclean hands.

“Today, there are all kinds of rancour coming from Edo state. They all boil down to attempt by godfather and godfatherism that is heating up the polity in the state. Obaseki is the executive governor of Edo state and he should be allowed to exercise the powers vested in him by the law. To what purpose is this idea of the APC chairman putting the state under tension?" he queried.
Describing oshiomhole's actions against Obaseki as anti-party, Oyegun said the national chairman of APC handles the affairs of the party like an executive chairman.
“If his actions against Obaseki is not anti-party, someone should then explain to me what is anti-party.
“The problem of the APC is from a singular man, the national chairman who runs the party like an executive chairman. The idea of working singlehandedly and inducing the party members to endorse is the problem of the party," Oyegun said.

Speaking in Benin on Wednesday June 19, Oyegun said if the APC failed to resolve the crisis rocking the party in the state, it might not clinch the seat of the governor in Edo.
Oyegun said the roots of the crisis in Edo state House of Assembly is the handiwork of political godfatherism.
