Speaker Gbajabiamila’s team visits Yakubu Dogara in move to solidify seat

- The visits, according to findings, is aimed at solidifying the speakership seat for Gbajabiamila recently elected
- A similar visit was made by the team to the national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu
The campaign team of the newly elected speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has paid a visit to the immediate past head of the lower chamber, Yakubu Dogara.
Legit.ng understands that the visit of the team to some of top leaders in the country is aimed at helping Gbajabiamila fortify the seat ahead of the next four years.

At the time of this report, details of the meeting between the team led by Abdulmumin Jibrin and Dogara were not made public. It was also not known if the former speaker promised to support his successor.
Dogara, who defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) just before the 2019 general elections, was not reported to support any of the contenders for the speakership position.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Gbajabiamila earlier visited the national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Thursday, June 13.

Gbajabiamila, who was elected speaker of the House in the ninth National Assembly, visited the former governor of Lagos state a day after paying homage to President Muhammadu Buhari.
The former minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, was also present at the Abuja residence of Tinubu, where Gbajabiamila met with the APC national leader.
Gbajabiamila had emerged speaker of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, June 11, the day the ninth National Assembly was inaugurated.
Gbajabiamila was elected by members of the House of Representatives to pilot the affairs of the House for the next four years.
It was gathered that the new speaker, who is a member of the All Progressives Congress, is representing Surulere 1 federal constituency in the National Assembly.
