Ogunlewe’s son formally joins APC after his father threatens to leave PDP

Moyosore Ogunlewe, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and son of a former minister of works, Adeseye Ogunlewe, on Friday, May 16, formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defector left the PDP along with his supporters and were received into the APC by the members of the ruling party led by Alhaji Kehinde Bello, its chairman in Kosofe local government area.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a member of the state House of Assembly, Tunde Braimoh (Kosofe 2) and a former executive chairman of Ikosi-Isheri local council development area, Yetunde Arobieke, were among members that also received him at Ogudu Junior High School, Ogudu GRA in Kosofe.

The report said the young Ogunlewe, a lawyer, contested the Lagos House of Assembly seat (Kosofe 1) in the 2015 and 2019 elections but lost to the APC on the two occasions.

He announced his resignation from the PDP shortly after the 2019 election, but did not announce his next destination .

His father had also recently threatened to leave the party within 30 days over the lingering leadership crisis in the state chapter.

The former minister said he was tired of what he described as the instability and lack of direction in the PDP.

He said he would leave for the APC if the issues affecting the party were not resolved .

Moyosore thanked APC members in the area for accepting him into the ruling party and particularly commended Bayo Osinowo, a senator-elect for the Lagos West, for accepting him to join the party despite past political differences.

”I want to thank everybody for accepting me and my supporters into APC, honestly, I am overwhelmed by this show of love and I feel at home.

”But let me particularly thank our senator-elect, Mr Bayo Osinowo, for receiving me; it is unbelievable the way he has accepted despite what has gone wrong in the past.

”I thank Mr Osinowo and I can say that again and again.The last time I came here was for the victory party of Mr Osinowo and I told the whole house I was going to come to APC properly," he said.

Legit.ng earlier reported that the Lagos chapter of Peoples Democratic Party on Friday, May 3, declared recently that Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe does not have electoral value.

Adegbola Dominic, the state chairman of the party, made this statement following Ogunlewe's decision to defect to the All Progressive Congress.
