Buhari laments over Lagos school building collapse

- President Buhari has expressed sadness over the collapse of a building housing a school in Itafaaji area of Lagos state

- The president sympathised with the parents and relations of the deceased, wishing them God’s comfort

- Buhari also charged the Lagos state government to do all that is needful to prevent the re-occurrence of such tragic incidents in future

President Muhammadu Buhari says he is extremely saddened by the collapse of a building housing a school in Itafaaji area of Lagos, which left fatalities, particularly, small children.

President Buhari made his feelings known in a press statement released by Femi Adesina, the presidential spokesman, in Abuja on Wednesday, March 13, NAN reports.

Legit.ng gathers that the president sympathised with the parents and relations of the deceased, wishing them God’s comfort. He also wished the injured speedy and complete recovery.

President Buhari commiserated with the government and good people of Lagos state, and pledged assistance of the federal government, as may be required by the state.

“It touches one to lose precious lives in any kind of mishap, particularly, those so young and tender.

“May God grant everyone affected by this sad incident fortitude and succour,’’ he added.

The president charged the Lagos state government to do “all that is needful, so that such tragic developments do not recur in future.’’

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the United Kingdom expressed shock over the collapse of a school building in Lagos Island on Wednesday.

In a tweet, the UK government wished those who were injured swift recovery and expressed condolence to those who lost loved ones.

The tweet read: “We were shocked to hear of a building collapse involving a school in Lagos today. Our thoughts are with those who have lost loved ones in this tragic disaster, and we wish those injured a swift and full recovery.”
