Breaking: APC candidate Mukhtar Shehu wins Zamfara guber election
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Zamfara, Alhaji Mukhtar Shehu, the winner of the poll held in the state.
INEC declared Shehu winner of the election held on March 9 after polling 534,541 votes to defeat his close challenger of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Zamfara collation officer, Prof Kabiru Bala of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, said Shehu's closest rival, Bello Muhammad Mutawalle of the PDP polled 189,452 votes.

Recall that the acronym of the APC had been omitted on the results sheet for Saturday’s governorship and House of Assembly elections in Zamfara.
In a statement signed by the INEC’s national secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony, it expressed regrets over the omission.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had emerged winner of Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Oyo state.

Prof Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, the INEC returning officer in the state, declared the result on Sunday evening at the state headquarters of INEC in Ibadan.
