Oshiomohole delivers senatorial seat to Alimikhena for second term

- A senatorial candidate of the APC in Edo state have been reelected into the Senate for his second term

- Francis Alimikhena won at the Edo north senatorial district election which took place on Saturday, February 23

- Alimikhena scored of 117, 783 votes to defeat his closest opponent, Abubakar Momoh of the PDP, who scored 80, 752 votes

Senator Francis Alimikhena of All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared winner and re-elected for second term at the Edo north senatorial district election.

Announcing the result on Monday in Auchi, the Returning Officer, Professor Moses Osawaru of the University of Benin, said Alimikhena scored of 117, 783 votes to defeat his closest opponent, Abubakar Momoh of the PDP, who scored 80, 752 votes.

Osawaru said that the senatorial district had a total of 633,384 registered voters with 204,920 votes cast and 5,208 voided votes.

Osawaru said: “Francis Alimikhena of the APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”

The senator thanked the people of the senatorial district for re-electing him and assured them of adequate representation and massive development.

“The 9th Assembly will be dominated by the All Progressives Congress members and the people of my senatorial district will witness increased developmental projects in the area,” he said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the deputy resident of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was about 12:01am on Monday, February 25, declared winner of the Enugu West Senatorial seat in a landslide victory.

Declaring the result at Awgu, the Returning Officer, Professor Douglas Nwabueze, said the senator polled a total of 86,088 votes to beat his closest rival, Mrs. Juliet Ibekaku-Nwagwu, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 15,187 votes.

With his victory, Ekweremadu is returning to the Nigerian Senate for the 5th time Reacting to his victory, the senator expressed gratitude to his constituents for reelecting him into the Senate for a fifth time, noting that it was a record of it’s own in the eastern part of the country.
