Gov Okowa orders sack of aide for violent behaviour and assault on a lady
- Delta state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has ordered the sack of one of his aides
- The aide, Friday Eluro, was said to have been caught on video assaulting a woman
- The governor said an appointee of government ought to ensure that the rule of law is observed at all times
Delta state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa on Friday, February 8, ordered the sack of one of his security aides, Mr Friday Eluro, who was caught on video assaulting a woman.
The governor in a statement by his spokesman, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, frowned at the unwarranted assault on the woman especially from an appointee of government, who he said ought to ensure that the rule of law is observed in all situations.
“Governor Okowa having watched the video of the assault on a certain woman has directed that the appointment of Mr Friday Eluro as security aide be terminated forthwith to serve as deterrent to others.
“In the last three and half years, our administration have worked so hard to entrench the enduring peace in our state and we will not sit back and fold our hands to watch appointees of government or any other person no matter how highly placed in the society to take laws into their hands,” the statement said.

He warned appointees of government to be of good behaviour and always remember that they are ambassadors of government and are supposed to be role models in the society.
Beyond sacking of the aide, the governor has also directed full investigation into the incident with a view to serving the interest of justice.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candiate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has described Governor Okowa as a man of unquestionable integrity.
Atiku made the comment on Sunday, February 3 in Lagos at the 2018 Silverbird Awards where the governor won the "2018 Silverbird Man Of The Year Award."

The governor was personally presented with the award by Atiku who hailed the governor for his performances in office and his antecedents as a politician.
