Bandits who killed Senator Marafa’s sister demand N30million ransom to release husband

- Bandits invaded some communities in Zamfara and killed about 14 people, including Senator Marafa’s sister, Ade Marafa

- The bandits also kidnapped Ade Marafa’s husband during the attack

- Few hours after the attack, the bandits reportedly demanded a ransom of N30million to release the husband

Bandits who raided communities in Zamfara have reportedly made a demand of N30million as ransom to release Alhaji Ibrahim, the husband of late Ade Marafa who is a sister to Kabiru Marafa, Senator representing Zamfara Central.

Ade Marafa was killed by bandits numbering over 100. The bandits also set Ruwan Bore community in Gusau local government area ablaze.

According to Sahara Reporters, a resident of the community, who spoke in anonymity, said that the bandits called the family to demand N30million before he could be released.

“They have called demanding N30million,” he said.

He added that the bandits came with the intention of kidnapping Marafa’s sister, but she resisted.

“When they arrived, they tried to kidnap her, but she resisted. So they killed her, and took away her husband.”

The bandits invaded the community in the early hours of Tuesday, February 5, killing 14 people and setting two communities, Tungar Takoka and Tudun Wadar Maijatau, ablaze.

Residents of the two communities have reportedly moved to Mada and neighbouring communities.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) suspended its governorship campaign in Zamfara state following fresh attacks on communities by bandits in the state.

The party’s governorship candidate, Alhaji Bello Matawalle announced the decision at a news briefing in Gusau on Tuesday, February 5.

“l want to announce that I have suspended all my campaign programmes due to the renewed rising bandits activities in the state.

“l also wish to call on the government and security agencies to come up with practical measures that will adequately bring the bandits activities to an end,” he said.
