2019 elections: Kebbi's ex-permanent secretary, 3,510 others defect to PDP
- A former government house permanent secretary in Kebbi state has dumped the APC for the PDP alongside over 3,510 supporters
- According to Mainasara Sajo, they left the APC because of the way they were treated during the party's primary election
- The defectors said APC performance in the state has been poor and the people want a change
Mainasara Sajo, a former government house permanent secretary, 10 local government chairmen with 3,510 other members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Suru local government in Kebbi state have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Sajo who was once a permanent secretary for the state government during Saidu Dakingari term publicly made his defection known at a PDP campaign rally for the party’s governorship candidate, Isa Galaudu, on Thursday, January 31, Daily Trust reports.

At the rally, Sajo claimed he and his followers dumped the APC for PDP because they were shortchanged during the party’s primary election in the state.
He said: “We were not treated justly during the primary election, there was clear favoritism and the election was characterized by irregularities."
Prominent politicians among those who defected to PDP pledged their strong support for the party, saying they were encouraged to do so because PDP gave them slots to choose their House of Representative member a senator in the next elections.
The PDP’s governorship candidate in Kebbi state said the APC government in the state has performed woefully and has not been forthcoming on the promises it made to the people.
He said: “Even the agricultural program they are boasting of is beclouded by deceit to the farmers while abject poverty was the order of the day in the state."

Recall that Legit.ng earlier reported that the vice chairman of the Ebonyi state chapter of the APC, Samuel Ode-Oru, had defected to the PDP ahead of the forthcoming 2019 general elections.
Ode-Oru defected alongside over 6,000 members to the PDP few days for President Muhammad Buhari to flag off his campaign in the state for his re-election.
