Nicolas Otamendi becomes Barcelona target after frustrating times at Man City

Nicolas Otamendi has been unhappy at Manchester City for lack of game time and Barcelona are reportedly in race to sign the center-back.

The Spanish giants who recently signed Kevin-Prince Boateng on loan and Frenkie de Jong from Ajax could pull something out the blue to sign the embattled center-back from Etihad.

And according to the Sun, Otamendi could bringing a lasting solution to Barca's defensive problems at the back as he looks to end his frustrations at the Manchester club.

The Argentina international has played just ten Premier League appearances this term and would waste no time to head to the Camp Nou.

Pep Guardiola is considering a move for Dutch international Mathijs De Ligt, that will trigger Otamnedi's departure for a fee around £35million.

The Spanish boss admitted Otamendi is frustrated with his lack opportunities this season.

“He's not happy," he recently said.

"When he plays he's happy, when he doesn't play he's not happy, but not just Otamendi, everybody. All of them.

“We would like to [keep him], but it depends on the players and the agents.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that France international Benjamin Mendy will make his return from injury against Burton in the Carabao Cup.

The 24-year-old defender has been sidelined since November last year but was pictured in training on Tuesday, January 22, ahead of the semifinal tie.
