Nigeria Customs seizes 3 cartons of tramadol worth N15m in Kaduna state

- The Zone `B’ of the Nigeria Customs Federal Operation Unit, has seized 3 cartons of Tramadol 255mg and 1,100 bags of foreign rice with Duty Paid Value of over N54m

- The Area Controller of the zone, Mohammed Sarkin Kebbi said the discovery was made based on intelligence gathering from good Nigerians

- Kebbi also said that each carton of Tramadol had a market value of over N5m, thus putting the value of the total seizure at N15m

Three cartons of Tramadol 255mg and 1,100 bags of foreign per boiled Rice Duty worth over 54 million naira in Kaduna state has being seized by Nigeria Customs Federal Operation Unit, Zone ‘B’.

Legit.ng gathered that Mohammed Sarkin Kebbi, the Area Controller of the zone, disclosed this in Kaduna on Wednesday, January 9, while conducting newsmen round the seized items.

Kebbi explained that the three cartons of tramadol where uncovered along Kaduna-Abuja road concealed in a truck conveying motor cycle spare parts.

The controller said the discovery was made based on intelligence gathering from good Nigerians, adding that each carton of the tramadol has a market value of over five million naira for each carton with the total of over 15 million naira for the three cartons.

He further disclose that, tramadol drug which has serious negative effect especially in the northern part of the country which is being imported to the country in large quantities and called on well meaning individuals in the society to always expose those enemies of the country.

“As an agency of the federal government, we will continue to contribute our quarter and do our best in preventing prohibited drug from getting to the teaming youth.

“Tramadol is very expensive and it sells very fast because the criminals have been able to put the drug into the market,” he stressed.

In a previous report by Legit.ng, the Nigeria Customs Services denied reports that the service intercepted a container full of dollars along Apapa road.

The spokesperson for the Nigerian Customs, Joseph Attah, said reports trending in the social media that one of the recently seized 40 containers by Customs along Apapa road contains United States dollars is misleading.

Attah while speaking at a press briefing in Lagos said the false story was created by some people who do not have the real information about the content of the containers.
