Stages of election in Nigeria
We have already seen different stages of election in Nigeria in 2019. Less than two months are left before the 2019 political event. Who are the main leaders and what challenges are they likely to face in the coming election? Also, find out how to vote correctly in 2019!
Election and electoral process in Nigeria
The election for president in Nigeria will be held in between February and March 2019. The most popular leaders of the presidential race right now are the two candidates:
- Muhammadu Buhari is the current president
- Atiku Abubakar is a former vice president who is a candidate from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)
After the election primaries, no one has any doubt that the real struggle will unfold between these two candidates. There is an administrative resource on the side of the current president. However, the opposition, Atiku Abubakar has considerable level of support in the country. That is why the struggle for the presidency indeed promises to be exciting, and election results between them are hard to predict now.
Of course, we would like to hope for transparency in the election process and counting of votes, because otherwise, centers of resistance may arise again throughout the country for those who find the results to be unfair. Due to the apparent disagreement between the two parties and not perfect election system law, the risk of the emergence of hotbeds of violence is reasonably high at the moment.

Stages of the election in Nigeria
It is evident that the presidential election will be very fierce because in this case, both candidates have approximately equal chances.
Difficult and unstable relations between the two parties, the leaders of the presidential race, are caused not so much by ideological differences as by the struggle for the seat of power.
Difficult relationships also became a hindrance to the introduction of changes in the electoral legislation, which were designed to prevent fraud when using electronic cards for voting.
