Breaking: 20 abducted members of JIBWIS regain freedom in Zamfara

About 20 members of the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa’ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) First Aid Group, that were kidnapped on December 23, 2018 in Jibiya local government area of Katsina state have regained their freedom, Daily Trust reports.

Legit.ng gathered that their released was made known by Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, the national chairman Ulama Council of the group, during a press conference in Jos on Sunday, January 6.

JIBWIS explained that the victims were released at about 2 am on Saturday, January 5, in Dauran town of Zurmi local government area of Zamfara state.

Recalled that the religious group on December 31, announced the abduction of its members in Jibiya local government of Katsina while on their way back to Sokoto their destination after attending first aid camp in Dutse.

In a previous report by Legit.ng, Adamawa Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) declared that it arrested 120 suspected kidnappers, fraudsters, bandits, rapists and vandals in Adamawa between January and December.

The commandant of the corps, Aliyu Ndanusa, made this known in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday, December 24, in Yola.

“We have prosecuted some, while others were profiled and handed over to relevant security agencies for further investigations,” he said.
