Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Imo state, has said that the party has been equipped to coast home to victory in the 2019 general elections.

Araraume made the assertion in Owerri, the state capital, adding that he was contesting for governor for the purpose of recovering and repositioning the state, Vanguard reports.

He described Anambra state as an example of a state in the southeast region where it’s economy had favoured the citizens.

The candidate assured the people of Imo state that he would replicate the development strides of Anambra in Imo if he is elected the next governor in 2019.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Senators Ifeanyi Ararume and Osita Izunaso of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday, September 5, joined the train of defectors in the country by dumping the party for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

They were said to have had a two-hour meeting with the national chairman of APGA, Dr Victor Oye, at the party's national secretariat in Abuja, where the defection was perfected. The two politicians were in a running battle with the state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha.

Recall that the crack in the APC in Imo state further widened on Sunday, March 18, when its former national organising secretary, Osita Izunaso; Senators Ifeanyi Araraume and Benjamin Uwajiumogu stormed out of a meeting.

The closed-door meeting, which held at Concorde Hotel in Owerri, was still ongoing when the three party chieftains walked out midway.

The meeting, which was presided over by the state chairman of APC, Hillary Eke, held “amidst tumultuous atmosphere from party faithful who had accompanied their leaders”, and lasted for about two hours and 30 minutes.

Also previously reported by Legit.ng was that the gubernatorial candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) in Imo state, Uche Nwosu, vowed to end the sufferings experienced by pensioners in the state.

According to a statement by the candidate's director of media and publicity, Onwusanya Jones, Nwosu said he had concluded his plans on how to pay pensioners within six months in office as governor of the state.
