Alleged corruption: PDP chieftain says only a court can indict Atiku

- The PDP's south-south national vice chairman, Emmanuel Ogidi, says only a court can indict Atiku Abubakar on corruption charges

- Ogidi said Nigerians are already changing their perception about Atiku, as the latter has not been found guilty

- The PDP chieftain urged citizens to shun political apathy and vote en masse for Atiku on February 14, 2019

Only a court can indict the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, on corruption charges, says the party's south-south national vice chairman, Emmanuel Ogidi.

Ogidi, in an interview with The Guardian, described Atiku as a man who loves the masses and is ready to transform Nigeria.

Legit.ng gathers that he expressed concern that the All Progressives Congress (APC) had accused Atiku of corruption; and questioned if he (Atiku) had been found guilty in Nigeria or anywhere else.

According to Ogidi, Nigerians are already changing their perception about Atiku, as he has not been found guilty. He further stated that the former vice president would revamp the economy, restructure Nigeria, provide qualitative education and provide fresh initiatives to end unemployment, if elected as president in 2019.

Ogidi stressed that Atiku would also address the security challenges in the country, especially the issue of the Boko Haram insurgency.

He also lamented over the growing number of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the country, and called for an end to killing of innocent Nigerians; while also expressing concern about the continued strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), which he said is bad for the nation’s education sector.

According to Ogidi, lack of godliness on the part of most of Nigeria's leaders is what has led to the leadership gap in the country. He said the leaders have no compassion, contrary to the provisions of 2 Samuel 23:3, where God advised that leaders are advised to rule with the fear of God.

He promised that the PDP would embark on infrastructural development, including making the Warri and Port-Harcourt ports more competitive and attractive to investors.

Ogidi said the PDP's slogan is ‘Making Nigeria work again’ and urged citizens to shun political apathy and vote en masse for Atiku on February 14, 2019. He said: “Nigeria is a great country, the country can work again, and we shall make it work.”
