Timaya explains why he collected his car gift to Empress Njamah after they broke up
Most times, when a man and woman come together to have a relationship, it doesn’t always end as planned and can leave a sour taste in the mouths of the parties involved. The Nigerian showbiz industry has witnessed several love stories between entertainers and a few times they end happily.
Despite that, not all relationships have a happy ending. At a time in the social scene, the romance between music artiste Timaya and Nollywood actress Empress Njamah was the talk of the town.
However, things soon turned sour in 2009 after reports filtered in that they had broken up but not without drama.
According to reports, Timaya had bought a car for Empress but he later went to her church to collect it and also made sure to beat her up.
These rumours have finally been put to rest as the music star has commented on the issue.
The singer explained that even though he had parted ways with Empress, he felt it was a normal lovers' quarrel and that they still had a chance at getting back together at the time but that was not the case.
In an interview with radio presenter, Freeze, he revealed that he had given Empress a particular amount of money to get a car but she failed to buy it and chose to keep driving his Honda.

The self acclaimed Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa further explained that the Honda car which he retrieved from her after the breakup was actually a gift from a fan who felt bad when she discovered he wasn't driving it but gave his girlfriend to drive instead.
Timaya finally revealed that there was no violence as he did not even set his eyes on Empress the day the whole drama unfolded.

According to him, he heard that she was in the church, so he took the spare key of the vehicle and went to retrieve it. However, he had trouble driving the car out because the elders in the church stopped him. He finally explained that the car was later collected after the intervention of some Navy officers.
Further in the interview, Timaya explained that he should not have brought up the matter because it happened a long time ago, but he only did because it shows he has moved on.

Speaking in an interview with The Punch, he said the following:
