APC treats killing of my people with kid gloves - Ortom claims

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state has disclosed that he defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in rejection of a political party which treats the killing of his people with kid gloves.

He made the comment during a thanksgiving service in his honour which took place at St Michael’s Catholic Rectory, Ameladu, The Nation reports.

Legit.ng gathers that Ortom stated that the federal government is persecuting him over his refusal to give state land to herdsmen.

The governor claimed that the real plan of the herdsmen is not to graze, but to take over land from the real owners; and vowed not to give in to such ‘evil agenda’.

He assured residents of the state that his government is committed to ensuring their protection, regardless of the levels of threats and intimidation.

Recall that Legit.ng previously reported that Governor Samuel Ortom officially announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress.

The governor made the announcement at the Government House, Makurdi, hours after some Benue youths blocked his convoy, preventing him from visiting APC national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, in Abuja.

There had been insinuations that the governor would quit the ruling party after he announced on Monday, July 16, that he had been sent out of the APC, and was exploring a new option to actualise his future ambition.
