EFCC detectives to quiz Ekweremadu over assets

- The deputy Senate president is set to appear before the EFCC

- Ike Ekweremadu would be interrogated by detectives of the EFCC on Monday, July 30

- He is to be quizzed on some assets linked with him in United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to interrogate the deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, over some assets linked to him.

The commission's detectives are to quiz the senator at the EFCC's headquarters in Abuja on Monday, July 30, The Nation reports.

Ekweremadu is to appear before the commission by 10am.

A source who spoke on the matter said the fresh invitation followed the DSP's request that he be given a new date for interrogation.

The source said the commission had delivered a fresh invitation to Ekweremadu and he has confirmed receipt of the invitation.

We have delivered a fresh letter of invitation to Ekweremadu and he has confirmed the receipt. Our detectives are expected to interrogate Ekweremadu on some assets linked with him. The EFCC is suspecting that the assets were acquired with suspicious funds," the source said.

The source added that some of the assets under probe are those said to have been omitted by the deputy Senate president in his assets declaration form.

“Some of these assets have been located in the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States," the source said.

Some of the apartments, allegedly being probed in the UAE, are e proper EGG1/1/114 and EGG1/1/115 Emirates Garden, Apartment DFB/12/B 1204 Park Towers, Flat 3604, MAG214 and Villa No.148, MAEEN1 The Lakes, Emirate Hills.

Others are Boulevard 3901, two flats of Burij Side Boulevard, The Signature; and Room 1903, Hotel Downtown.

Those in the UK include Flat 4 Varsity Court, Homer Street, WIH 4NW London and 52 Ayleston Avenue, NW6, London.

In the United States, the property are located in 4507 Stella Street, Bellavida Estate, Kissimmee, Florida; 2747 Club Cortile Circle, Kissimmee, Florida and 2763 Club Cortile Circle, Kissimmee, Florida.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that there had been a siege in the residents of the Senate President and his deputy last Tuesday

Shortly after presiding over the plenary after the siege by security operatives, the Senate president, Bukola Saraki, announced that the Senate would go on a recess. The Senate president also said that the plenary would resume in September.
