Tinubu, Oshiomhole, Balarabe Musa stopped me from defecting - APC Senator
- Senator Shehu Sani says he was stopped from defecting by the three politicians just hours before the names of defectors were announced on the floor of the Senate on Tuesday, July 24
- Sani also unveils a list of the reasons he wanted to leave the ruling party for another political platform
- The senator also blames Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai for most of his grievances against the party
Senator Shehu Sani representing Kaduna Central has revealed that it was the intervention of the trio of chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Adams Oshiomole, a leader of the party, Bola Tinubu, and the national chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party Balarabe Musa to stop him from leaving the ruling party.
Premium Times reports that Senator Sani changed his mind about defecting just hours before Senate President Bukola Saraki read out the names of the defectors on the floor of the legislature on Tuesday, July 24.

Sani said: “My defection was stopped by Asiwaju Tinubu, Oshiomole and Balarabe Musa. First of all, they recognised and accepted the fact that an injustice has been done to me in Kaduna.
“Balarabe Musa invited me to his house, cautioned and counselled me against defection. Asiwaju did the same thing. Adams Oshiomole reminded me of my activism and the struggles.
“They drew my attention to the fact that all those who defected to the PDP were once PDP members. I don’t have the pedigree of PDP. I’m an activist.
“The assurance they gave me was that everything will be sorted out. They assured me that they will intervene on issues which I raised. Because of that I could not defect.”
The senator says he is in talks with the party to resolve five issues after which he would totally drop his defection plans.
He listed them as:
1. His suspension by the Kaduna APC
2. Attack on his constituency office by thugs
3. Alleged frame up in a murder case
4. Demolition of the house of the national vice chairman of the APC for trying to help him
5. Silence of the presidency and APC leadership on his alleged sufferings in the hands of Governor El-Rufai

He said: “The first was the fact that the governor (El-Rufai) engineered my suspension and neither the presidency nor the party have ever lend a voice about that.”
“Secondly, my office was attacked five times by thugs. Thirdly, the governor tried to frame me in a murder case. Then the governor publicly incited the general public to attack me because we denied him loan.
“The governor also demolished the house of the national vice chairman of the party when he tried to intervene.”
Legit.ng had reported that Senator Shehu Sani on Thursday, July 26, declared that he remains a member of the ruling APC.
The senator said this while fielding questions from journalists at the APC national secretariat after a meeting with the party’s national chairman, comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
He said that he supported the ongoing reconciliation efforts undertaken by the party’s national executive led by the national chairman.
