Breaking: Imo state mourns as gunmen attack, kill APC chieftain

Some suspected gunmen believed to be hired assassins have reportedly attacked and killed a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and chairman of the party in Ideato local government area of Imo state.

The Punch reports that the commissioner of police in the state, Dasuki Galandanchi, confirmed the murder of Sunny Ejiagwu in a telephone conversation.

He said that the corpse had been evacuated to a nearby mortuary.

It was learnt that the politician was killed along the Akokwa road in the Ideato North local government area.

Galandanchi said: “The APC chairman in Ideato North has been murdered. I was at the scene of the crime and only came back. His corpse has been evacuated to a mortuary.

"There is no preliminary suspicion but the investigator would find out. The blood of the innocent would expose them.”
