Nigerian international Alex Iwobi has agreed a new long-term deal with Arsenal, The Sun reports.

The 22-year-old has snubbed interest from Lazio and will sign a new five-year contract worth around £70,000-a-week.

The Arsenal academy graduate will put pen to paper when the squad return from their pre-season tour after their game against Paris Saint-Germain.

Talks over a new deal began last December, despite the Super Eagles star penning a five-year deal in October 2016.

According to SunSport, Arsenal wanted a new deal agreed before the World Cup but talks broke down while the club looked to replace Arsene Wenger.

New manager Unai Emery have assured Iwobi he will be part of his new regime in North London.

The new deal is more than double his earning and is a sign of Iwobi’s status at the Emirates.

Iwobi made his debut for the Gunners in the defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in the League Cup in 2015 and scored his first goal against Everton five months later.

Last season Iwobi made 40 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal and scored three goals in the process.

Emery's side will face Atletico Madrid in Singapore on Thursday, July 25, followed by PSG on Saturday in the same stadium.

Arsenal will play Chelsea next at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on August 1, before making a trip to the Friends Arena in Sweden to play Lazio three days later.

Emery will have a taste of his first Premier League action against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City on August 12.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Arsenal are reportedly ready to cash in on Super Eagles winger Alex Iwobi this summer.

According to a UK Daily Star report citing sources in Italy, the Emirates dwellers are willing to sell Alex Iwobi for £22.3m (€25m) as new suitors from the Serie A are in need of the Nigerian international.
