Doguwa told Daily Trust on Thursday, July 19, that consultations were still on to convince the former governor to dump the APC and return to his former party ahead of the conduct of 2019 general elections.

He explained that although the consultations were at the national level, the Kano state wing of the party had made all the necessary arrangements to receive Senator Kwankwaso.

Meanwhile, the senator representing Kano South senatorial district in the National Assembly, Kabiru Gaya, has stated that the ruling APC would not support the emergence of any presidential candidate in 2019 from Kano state apart from President Muhammadu Buhari.

Senator Gaya said this in response to a question asking him about the alleged presidential ambition of Senator Kwankwaso.

He however said political stakeholders within the APC in Kano state are trying their best to ensure Kwankwaso remains in the party.
