EXCLUSIVE: My dream is to be a medical doctor in future - Young boy who had 9As in WAEC says
A 15-year-old boy had made the news after he impressed everyone with his performance in the West African Examination Council (WAEC) exams. Due to his impressive performance Legit.ng had a chat with David Okorogeye.
The smart young chap who graduated from a reputable school in Fagba, Agege area of Lagos state, is a science student who made his family members and school proud.
David hails from Delta state, he is the last child of a family of three. Having lost his father about seven years ago, the young boy resolved to making his mother and his sister proud of him as the man of the house.
Okorogeye graduated at the same time with Debora, his elder sister. He revealed that he ended up being in the same class with his sister after he got a double promotion from primary four to Jss1. Interestingly, his sister who is an art student had four As, four Bs and a credit in the school leaving certificate examination.
Legit.ng in an exclusive interview spoke to the smart young boy who explained how determined he was to succeed against all odds.

According to him, he visited the media room of his school and saw the names of students who had amazing results in WAEC. He prayed to God to give him the strength to make his name appear there too.
Okorogeye who was calm and collected while our correspondents spoke to him said he became a boarder in SS2. His mother later added that she worried about bullies and made him stay back home till she felt he was good to cope without her.
When asked about the challenges he had studying for the examination, he mentioned distraction as a major cause of concern. However, he acknowledged that God made it possible for him to sail through that phase.
The boy further added that he was amazed at his performance in English language as he revealed that he struggles with the subject. He stated that the student who usually get the prize of the best student in the subject did not make an A in the exam.

The mother of the young boy is a widow who teaches in a private school in Ketu, Lagos. She was joyous that her children had made her proud at the end of it all. The star boy revealed that the woman inculcated a reading habit into them at a very young age.
David Okorogeye told Legit.ng correspondent that his dream is to be a medical doctor in the future. In pursuit of this dream, he is looking forward to studying medicine in the university of Lagos. However, he said he is open to the opportunity of traveling outside the country.
Okorogeye offered English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Further Mathematics, ICT, Civic Education and catering in his school leaving examination. He made A1s in all subjects to everyone's surprise.
The brilliant boy also revealed that he had a JAMB score of 332 while his elder sister had 250. She has interest in studying mass communication in the same university as David.

Reading is not the only thing the young chap loves to do; he stated that he enjoys playing badminton, volleyball, tennis and chess.
His parting words at the end of the interview were to encourage youngsters who are preparing for their final exams in secondary school. He said preparing and studying hard is the surest way to pass. He advised them to desist from cheating and relying on external factors during examinations.
