Forbes magazine has released its annual list of the world’s highest earning celebrities and a surprising ‘entertainer’ heads the list.

American boxer Floyd Mayweather topped the list after pulling in some $285 million in the period, largely thanks to his August 2017, fight with mixed martial arts champion Conor McGregor.

Popular actor George Clooney takes the No 2 spot with the highest annual pay of his career. Clooney earned an estimated $239 million after selling his Casamigos tequila company in June 2017.

Reality star Kylie Jenner, 20, came in third, thanks to her cosmetics line that is said to put her on track to become the youngest self-made billionaire in the United States.

Many have wondered how Forbes makes the list and they explained that they estimated pre-tax earnings from June 2017-June 2018, before deducting fees for managers, based on data from Nielsen, touring trade publication Pollstar, movie database IMDB, and interviews with industry experts and celebrities themselves.

Forbes also added that entertainers on its 2018 Celebrity 100 list earned a combined $6.3 billion before tax, up 22 percent from last year’s list. Many of the highest earners came as a result celebrities leveraging their brands through side ventures and through their social media presence.

Others on the list include Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Irish band U2, reality star Judge Judy, Football stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, British band Coldplay and British singer Ed Sheeran. Read the full list HERE.
