I am still alive - Opeyemi Bamidele cries out

- The director general of the Kayode Fayemi campaign council, Opeyemi Bamidele, has squashed death rumours being spread, and notified the public that he is still alive

- He described the rumours as being an evil intention of the wicked and expressed worry that such misinformation could aggravate the already mounting tension in the state

- Bamidele announced that he is convalescing fast and stated that with the prayers of all Nigerians, he would be discharged soon to reunite with his political family

Opeyemi Bamidele, the director general of the Kayode Fayemi campaign council, has urged members of the public to ignore rumours that he has died.

He made the appeal in a statement issued by his media aide, Ahmed Salami, in Ado Ekiti, on Monday, July 16, Vanguard reports.

Legit.ng notes that Bamidele has been receiving treatment in a London Hospital for the past six weeks, after he sustained gunshot wounds caused by mishandling of a firearm by a policeman during a rally organised for Fayemi.

According to Bamidele, the rumour was being spread to turn Ekiti into a battle ground and tune out the euphoria from Fayemi’s gubernatorial victory.

He stressed that not only is he hale and hearty; but that he has substantially recuperated due to intensive medical treatments he had received, buoyed by fervent prayers of Ekiti citizens.

Bamidele described the rumours as being an evil intention of the wicked, and expressed worry that such misinformation could aggravate the already mounting tension in the state.

He said: “I spoke as a DG of the victorious campaign outfit for over 10 minutes in an audio clip I sent during the mega rally attended by President Muhammadu Buhari, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, governors and other party leaders in Ado Ekiti.

“I believe these evidence were suffice to convince anybody that I am still alive. Could it mean that these mischief makers thought such audio address was fabricated?

“I expect every Ekiti man to pray for my survival, rather than wishing me dead. In what way would they profit from my demise? Were they doing it for politics or to amass public sympathy?

“Let me say in clear and unequivocal terms, that I am convalescing fast and with the prayers of all Nigerians, I shall be discharged soon to reunite my political family and admirers in Ekiti to prepare grounds for Dr Fayemi’s assumption of office on October 16, 2018.

“I want to salute the courage of our people for voting massively for Dr Fayemi. APC as a progressive and well coordinated party that was averse to impetuous policy as presently being witnessed in Ekiti would come with policies and programmes that will put smiles on the faces of the populace.”
