He stated that having worked alongside Fayemi in the past 3 years, he can confidently testify not only to Fayemi’s competence as an excellent and decent public office holder but also his willingness to serve his people.

He maintained that Fayemi has been able to build an efficient public service structure in the ministry of solid minerals development which was almost non-existent before he took over the ministry, adding that some of the gains of Fayemi's administration in the ministry will begin to manifest soon.

While charging Fayemi to consider himself an ambassador of President Buhari's good governance and anti-corruption campaign in the state, Shittu also described Fayemi's victory as a triumph for true democracy in Nigeria.

The minister implored the newly elected governor to continue to put the interests of the Ekiti people first since they have trusted him enough to return him to the Government House.

He also prayed that the Ekiti people would never witness such a retrogressive era that they have just been liberated from again.

The minister, however, called on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state to prepare for a similar defeat in the state come 2019.

He said: "Oyo state will not be left behind in the good works that the the All Progressives Congress has started all over the country."

Shittu, who is one of the leading APC gubernatorial aspirants in the forthcoming 2019 gubernatorial election in Oyo state, added that he is also ready to bring the true change and dividends of democracy to the good people of his state.
