Why I demanded N150,000 ransom after abducting my boss' son - Guard

A security guard, Yushe'u Bala, 20, and his accomplice, Sale Bala, 25, have been arrested by the Niger state police command for kidnapping the 10-year-old son of his boss at Dutsen-Kura, Minna and demanding N150,000 ransom for the release.

Bala revealed that he and his accomplice who was also a security guard in the area kidnapped the boy to raise enough money so they could stop their security jobs and venture into business, The Punch reports.

He said: “Our N150,000 ransom demand is affordable compared with what other kidnappers demand; we ventured into it to make little money to improve ourselves and leave security guard work.

“I pray that the police will forgive me because I cannot explain how the plan was hatched to the extent of kidnapping the son of my employer."

The command’s public relations officer, Muhammad Abubakar, told journalists on Sunday, July 15, that the suspects would be arraigned in court after investigation.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Ren Dajun, a staff of the China Geological Cooperation (CGC), has been reportedly kidnapped in Zamfara by some unknown gunmen.

The incident was confirmed by the police command in Zamfara. The police made the confirmation in a statement by the spokesperson of the command, SP Muhammad Shehu, on Thursday, July 12, in Gusau.
